– Nahal Hadera V est un site épipaléolithique kébarien de la plaine cà´tière d'Israel (voir la bibliographie dans Godfrey-Smith et al. 2003).
– Guy Bar-Oz m'a montré les fossiles d'équidés de ce site et m'a gentiment permis de publier ici les résultats de mon étude.
– Le matériel comprend un fragment de MC III, une première phalange et une deuxième phalange antérieures qui peuvent àªtre facilement rapportés à un E. hydruntinus d'assez grande taille, comme celui d'Agios Giorgios (Bassiakos et Tsoukala 1996 ; Tsoukala 1992). Il y a en outre quelques dents et un astragale.

Les dimensions des dents jugales supérieures (mal conservées et non photographiées) sont voisines de elles de l'E. hydruntinus d'Agios Giorgios (voir le diagramme de dispersion).
Je n'ai pas non plus de photos des jugales inférieures ; toutefois d'après mes notes et schémas, elle ressemblent à une prémolaire inférieure de Wad C (voir la photo).

L'astragale (gauche) est mal conserrvé, noir et léger. Je n'ai pas de données sur les astragales d'E. hydruntinus de grande taille. Il semble cependant que ce spécimen peut aussi àªtre rapporté à E. hydruntinus (voir le diagramme de Simpson).

– Nahal Hadera V is an Epipaleolithic Kebaran site in the coastal plain of Israel (see the bibliography in Godfrey et al. 2003).
– The equid fossils were shown to me by Guy Bar-Oz who kindly gave me permission to publish their study here.
– A fragment of MC III, a first and a second phalanges (both anterior) may easily be referred to a rather large E. hydruntinus like the one of Agios Giorgios (Bassiakos et Tsoukala 1996 ; Tsoukala 1992). There are moreover several cheek teeth and a talus.

Size and proportions of the upper cheek teeth (badly preserved and not photographed) are close to what was observed in the E. hydruntinus of Agios Giorgios (see the scatter diagram). I have no photograph either of the lower premolars ; according to my notes and schemas, however, they look like a premolar of Wad C (see photograph).

The talus (left) is black, light, and badly preserved. Although I have no available data on large sized E. hydruntinus, I believe that this talus may also be referred to E. hydruntinus (see Simpson's ratio diagram).
